My name is Steve, from Sydney, Australia. I'm mid 60's and retired, I'm a dad and grandad.
I built models in the early 60s as a kid, got involved in cars, girls and a job in my late teens, and returned to the hobby much later. My building skills are not much, but I love cars and models, so I build street cars, rods, F1, whatever takes my fancy at the time. Very slowly I must add. I love the 50s & 60s US cars with a heavy lean towards Mopar; also Formula 1 cars of the 70s & 80s, and some Aussie resin Holdens which I am having a go at. I have also taken the plunge and got a Tamiya kit of Mick Doohan's Honda race bike.
Apart from models, I ride my mountain bike in the bush, I spend time with my family, watch my sons' and grandsons' soccer games, and ride my motorbike. I go to motor race meets a few times a year, love the old Historic meetings, and watch the televised F1 and Moto GP races.
I have learned heaps from this site and the magazine, and particularly enjoy the wip posts, they remind me that I'm not the only one who has modelling setbacks. I will never have the skills shown by so many modellers on the site, but I enjoy this hobby like no other.
