About modellpularn
I was born Nov.1st 1955. Have always lived in Stockholm except for one year in San Diego 1971-72. That was an experience that's been with me all the time. It was, eventually, a positive year that ended too soon. And now's the time of year when I wish I could spend the winter in sunny California. I just need to win the lottery! Have always been a car nut. Started building models when I was six. The first one was an aircraft carrier. The result was far from perfect. After a period of planes I got into cars, and that's the way it's been since then. My first American car was a '55 Chevy 2dr HT, then came a '70 El Camino SS 454/LS5, fourspeed M22 - the works! But I sold it! Foool! I know, stupid move, but the financial situation wasn't the best at the time, so I had to let the Elky go. Some years later a '62 Bel Air wagon was next. Turned it into a NASCAR wagon. With the help of a friend who made the graphics, the plain turned to headturner in an afternoon. It was a cool ride, but too rusty (but not Wallace, who by the way is "my" driver) so I traded it for a '68 Chevelle 4dr. Didn't like it, sold it and bought a turbo Volvo. Some years later(2001)I came full circle and bought another Elky; a '72 350 version with SS hood. It's red with black stripes and has a set of old style "American Racing" wheels. I live in a two bedroom apartment south of Stockholm. You gotta have a model room, right? I work as a cab driver at night, but am thinking of going back to a regular daytime job. So I can build models at night instead of sitting in the taxi. Am a NASCAR fan, so in '95 a bunch of us went to the Carolinas to see AND DRIVE the real thing! Saw the Southern 500 at Darlington, and did the Petty Driving Experience at Charlotte. My top speed was only 146.4 mph! Those 30 laps were over way too soon! So I race model NASCAR cars in 1/24 scale. Check my photobucket link.
