I'm retired after working since I was 17. I served four years in the Marine Corps, Four and a half years in the Army, and twenty years in the Army National Guard in NJ.
I started working on model cars when I was 14 or 15 and stopped when I went in the service. I restarted in the 80's and stopped again after a few few years. I still have a few cars I built then, and I started again a couple of years ago.
I build cars from the 50's and 60's and found some kits that are the same as the 1/1 cars I've owned in the past. So far I've built a 61 Chevy convertible, 65 Pontiac GTO and a 66 Chevy Impala SS all to match the full size cars I had. I'm now working on an 84 Pontiac Fiero to match my show car that I've owned for 15 years.
I also like like older cars but they will have to wait a while until I build some of my backlogged models. Among them are a 62 Catalina, 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Fireball Roberts 57 Ford race car and an old Union Chaparral 2E that I started years ago.
I'm amazed at the changes I've found since the old days. BMF and flocking are among the greatest inventions since glue.
