About John Collett

I'm a Indiana builder, born and raised here. I've been building for over 45 years on and off. I enjoy building just about anything automotive related; My favorites are streetrods, streetmachine's and racecars drag and stockcars (modifieds mostly) from the 50's to the 80's. I picked up my first Scaleauto mag. in '89 or '90 and have been hooked ever since; I entered my contest back in '99 and was so impressed by the quality of the models entered, that I wanted to be better at everything from the basic's to the more advanced. I remember meeting a fellow modeler at my first modelclub meeting, and asked how could  I most improve, his answer was simple and has stuck with me since, he said treat every peice of a model as if it was a model it self, such as a battery, make it the best battery as possible, and when all the parts come together they will make one great model, and I have tried to stick with that idea ever since. Yes through out time many modelers have helped me along the way, but I beleive that one answer changed how I look at modeling and helped me become the modeler I am today. I have always had the drive to build, because my love for cars, and maybr I'm lucky in a way because I never have to write things down or draw plans to build, I just look at something and remember, then I get a vision and its on, sometimes the idea comes out great and sometimes not so perfect but no matter what I learn from each project and my modeling friends and enjoy every moment I get to build.
