About bcthunderbolt

I started building models at the age of 10. That Christmas I told my parents all I wanted was model cars.

Well I got 20 of them, mostly 1/32 scale. I was hooked from that point on, In junior high I would save my 30 cent's for lunch, and on Friday's I would go to K-Mart and buy a model.  They were $1.44. For you younger builders, that was in the mid 60's. A long time ago!

I only have one that was built back then, It's a 49 Mercury that took 2'ed in the contest at the local hobby shop.

I didn't do much building in the 70's, but I never stopped buying. I told myself and my wife that I was keeping them so when I retired I would have something to do, If I still had good eyes!

In the mid 80's I started building again, by then I had collected almost 800 Kits. In 1989 I bought a new house and had to sell some of the collection. The local hobby shop owner took 300 of them off my hands at $10.00 a kit. Yes it was hard to do, but it helped with the down payment of the house.

When the wife is happy, LIFE IS GOOD. In the past eight years I've been building on a regular basis. I was into pro stock in the 80's, but most of the one's I have been building are 60's factory stock. Must be getting old! I use automotive base coat clear coat on all of them now. Oh, I've been an auto body repairman since I graduated in 1973. I live in Michigan in the small town of Battle Creek. Thank's for reading my profile.

                                              Happy building!
